Idowu Odeyemi is a philosophy Ph.D. Student and the Benson Center Harper Ph.D. Fellow at the University of Colorado Boulder. His interdisciplinary theoretical works draw from social and political philosophy, applied epistemology, and moral philosophy. Before coming to Boulder, Idowu completed a B.A. in Philosophy at Ekiti State University, Nigeria in 2021. He is an alumnus of the Open Student Workshop at the University of Oxford. His current research centers on bringing epistemology into a close dialogue with social theory, and moral philosophy. As such, he would seek to investigate the propositional attitude that comes up when a hearer is unwilling to engage with epistemic virtue and understands that her lack of comprehension of the speaker’s testimony is not due to the speaker’s lack of epistemic credibility but the hearer's lack of access to the speaker’s cultural, social, and personal reality. He would seek to demystify how this propositional attitude anchors social and political issues, such as sexism, gender oppression, and racism.
